AutoCAD to Gerber Conversion
In order to have a laser photoplot made from an AutoCAD drawing or a DXF file it must first be converted to Gerber format. Gerber is the standard file format used to drive photoplotters. If your requirement is for the Gerber data only, so that it can be input to your CAM workstation, we can output a set of files for that purpose. The following is a set of guidelines for setting up and submitting your drawing.

SUBMIT YOUR FILE FOR A QUOTE

bullet We can accept AutoCAD release 10 through AutoCAD 2002.
bullet Clearly indicate what the drawing units represent (i.e.: inches, mm, microns)
bullet Indicate the scale even if it is 1:1
bullet Make sure all layers are assigned a visible color
bullet Remove layers that will not be used from the drawing
bullet Delete any data outside of the actual image area such as hard to see points
bullet Name the layers so they are recognizable (pads, top traces, silkscreen, etc). Everything does not have to be on the same layer
bullet Include layer combining instructions, (ex: component side artwork = pads + top traces + outline + top text)
bullet Do not separate each layer of a printed circuit board into a separate drawing and if possible leave the layers overlaid and registered within the one drawing file
bullet If possible, use .shx fonts and if it's a special one, we may not have it, so send it along with the drawing to avoid any delays
bullet If possible, do not use the "MTEXT" function to place your text in the drawing
bullet Indicate desired line thicknesses of single stroke text used in silk-screen drawings
